Spill containment absorbents are made of treated polypropylene which contains, absorbs and encapsulates the spilled material. PP sorbent has absorption capacity up to 25 times its weight. High buoyancy ensures it remains afloat even when saturated. Oil containment products give good oil retention and non-leaching, and can be reused after oil recovery.

Absorbents made from organically modified cotton have similar absorption capacity. They are easily disposable, non-toxic and thus eco-friendly for use.
